Out of roughly 1400 AE CAs on our list about 400 have been awarded AA Seniority numbers through a flowthrough agreement that has since expired. AA has started recalling pilots, and these 400 are being offered transfer along with the AA furloughees. The company projects to have 150 AE CAs gone to AA by June 2011 with many more to follow. After those 400 guys get their chance to go to AA there will be 824 additional AE CAs who will transfer to AA when AA starts hiring off the street at a 1:1 ratio.
Many of the AA pilots I have talked to predict off the street hiring late 2011-early 2012 since they have been ripping through the recall list without many guys wanting to come back (most have been on furlough 10+yrs and are already CAs at jetblue, fedex, swa, etc). Also, the retirement numbers for AA Mainline are staggering. The average age of the entire seniority list is in the upper 50's.
Add in the fact that AA has been quietly watching the other majors merge and grow over the past few years without any real response. AA is waking up from their deep sleep and is about to start some serious growth that you only hear about in fairy tales

These are just projections for the future classes, subject to change when they get people to confirm their class dates. Typically ATR slots arent included in projections, but are added 'on the fly' when they get the final number of newhires that will be showing up for Day 1 of class. The training center will be pumping up to about 25-30+ pilots per class, every 2 weeks for the forseeable future.
06DEC Class:
4 DFA
2 DFE
1 OFC
The other classes it has will probably change, but it says:

31JAN Class:

28FEB Class:

14MAR Class:

What is the sim ride like in the interview, I have read all those gouges and it doesnt sound terrible. I am now all freaked out after hearing how hard the Colgan ride is. I got GL, AE, and Colg all coming up within the next month....most likely.

Don't sweat the sim rides. It's all just basic instrument stuff for all the airlines. You honestly need to be strong on your IFR skills prior to flying an airliner, so if you can't pass it, you're not ready. There are current gouges on willflyforfood.cc.

Ya I am thinking about paying at a local place to use the Frasca, that is what AE has now. Diver Driver, how was your jump from jumpers to line?

My transition was eased because I was flying a Duchess on the side, doing cross countries IFR all the time the year prior to getting hired 121. Initial sim training is almost all IFR with emergencies for a week straight... not a good time to reinforce weak instrument skills.
My personal recommendation is to not only get current, but proficient before starting. It will help you in the long run and make absorbing the million other things in 121 training easier.
