This is from the April 10, 2010 Seniority list. I got too depressed to calculate retirements beyond 2024. There are 2699 total pilots on the seniority list(newhires havent shown up on the list yet).

Woo-Hoo! I'll move up 310 numbers by the time I retire in 11 years!! Maybe I can hold a nice 3-day trip by then.

Take heart, Flyby. From the looks of some of our pilots, about a third won't live to be age 65 much less hold a medical until then. Others will retire earlier than age 65; even sooner if the medical insurance issue is fixed.

When both the economy was booming and the legacies were hiring, we lost 30 pilots a month due to attrition. It dropped to 15/month when the airlines stopped hiring and 7/month when the economy dumped in the fall of 2008. While I doubt the legacies will be hiring in the next 5 years, eventually they will do so. The economy should pick up either later this year or early the next so our attrition levels of pilots who've had their fill of the airline bidness will pick up too.

Though I'm no optimist and my crystal ball turned out to be glass, I believe there will be hiring at some legacies by summer 2012. I wouldn't bet a penny on this, but I like to believe it.

Hope is a good thing! Which legacy do you think will be hiring? It won't be AA, I doubt it will be Delta or USAirways. Are you speculating United? If their merger talks continue, I doubt any would be hiring since most business experts predict at least a 3% reduction to eliminate overlap from both airlines.

I'm not sure if I am getting your question right, but..

Looking at the top 286 AA seniority numbers on the Eagle list retirements are:

2014- 1
2015- 3
2016- 15
2017- 10
2018- 9
2019- 13
2020- 17
2021- 27
2022- 23
2023- 26
2024- 25
2025- 23
2026- 18
2027- 20
2028- 26
2029- 13
2030- 7
2031- 4
2032- 5
2033- 1

or......

When I filter the 286 oldest pilots on the Eagle seniority list there are 115 that have AA flowthrough numbers (and 4 more that are ex-AA flowbacks)

watch for that banana peel next time you step out of the flight deck when you fly with me.

We made the list of the best us airline in 2009, unfortunately, we we're one of the three least performers

Aren't we always? I see why everyday. Our pax service sucks.

On the contrary. We scored in the top 5 best in terms of consumer complaints. Baggage handling and in-voluntary denied boarding (bumping pax) hurt us the most and we were the worst in those two categories. On-time arrivals at AE were identical to AA (77.2%).

The formula they use to calculate the Airline Quality score is bogus as well. You can have the worst on-time performance but never bump any pax and be ranked #1 (this happened a few years ago).
