American Eagle to hire
#1311
Bucky,
Not ord based but maybe the chief is swamped? Cut the middle man out, have your friend send it directly to hr along with his employee number and that letter of recommendation he wrote for you. Also, include another letter of recommendation from your last employer. Don't forget to send a thank you letter as well.
FYI not everyone with an internal recommendation receives an invitation for an interview, if they do it takes a bit longer than a week or two.

Fellas...I am trying to get a feel for how the airline industry works. I have been flying for the USAF for twelve years and have the usual times. I applied to American Eagle in January via Airlineapps.com....I have not heard a peep. I did receive the email about the new addendums section. I looked into it and found I had already filled that section out. I dont have a single American Eagle internal rec and dont know anybody in the regionals. I was hoping to have a shot at an interview. Any ideas on how long folks swim through the airlineapps system? There is zero feedback through airline apps, so you get the feeling nobody even sees your app. Thoughts?

I do understand 121 time is important. Unfortunately I cant do anything about that. I have a few type ratings to include the B737 type. I was hoping to show "trainability". Knock on wood....I have no skeletons in my closet. I was just hoping to get a shot at an interview.

Almost sounds like your OVERqualified!
With so many apps in the pool on the airlineapps website, I believe they are only pulling the ones of pilots with internal recs. I and a few other guys I know all filled out the airlineapps ordeal and then waited... nothing happened. Emailed a certain person at AE, and the next day got the phone call for an interview. Unfortunately, if you do not have some sorta of internal connection there, I think you're about 99% out of luck until industry hiring accelerates a bit (if it does)... Could always try for Colgan!

Sometimes, especially in the regional world, what you look like on paper and what the company is looking for are two different things. The key is, that if you were hired by Eagle, with your 73 type and 10 year wait to upgrade, you would be out the door in a flash when SWA calls. That means Eagle pays for your training/per-diem and then they smell the rubber burning as you do a hole shot to Love Field. I will do the same at my regional. Others here can speak to who is getting the call at Eagle. I would guess its furloughed regional guys with RJ experience who will stick around for a bit. Not to say you won't get a call, and I know guys in my reserve unit that did 3 or 4 years at Eagle before going to Continental and SWA. A good way to get your name a bit more attention is to hit a job fair, say HI and drop a resume. Fltops has a job-fair coming in Vegas next month. I think Eagle is attending.

Why do you want to come into this godforsaken industry at this time?
