I see few fellow pilots are looking at jobs overseas. I am an expat myself and I would like to guide in a way fellow aviators towards the overseas jobs.
First of all there are not as many jobs as you think there are. India for example is not hiring any more expat F/O's and only few captain positions for wide body/ heavy equipment, with quite a lot total time and actually now you have to have TRE/TRI experience. China needs pilots (again captains and TRE/TRI guys only) but the paper trail and the fact that the Chinese companies have raised the minimums along with the fact that there are pretty much NO COMMUTING contracts out there it makes it less attractive . As far as the Middle East, before applying or even go for interview make sure you do a good research on the company and the place you suppose to reside. That goes and for Emirates,Gulf Air, Etihad, Qatar, Air Arabia and a lot of others. the money might be attractive but 9000USD IS NOT ENOUGH to live in Dubai or Doha. Europe still has hiring going on but unless you hold a JAA ATPL or Frozen ATPL and a EU passport unfortunately there is no chance of getting on board with any airline. Some fellow mentioned a company in Romania and I think he is talking about Wizz Air. Well Wizz Air operates under JAR Ops there for JAA licence is required.

There are a lot of qualified pilots on the street right now, Globally. Interviews for some oversees companies have become very very difficult to pass and a lot of the perks that those companies were offering to expats now slowly they start disappearing. Pilots with families its very very hard to move to China or India or M.E, even to Europe. You will face cultural problems(remember we are guests on their country therefor we must respect their religion and culture) language barriers, bank account issues, licencing conversions, housing problems, residency problems for your family (remember they are hiring you, not your wife or kids. that is your responsibility), rotation problems, contract issues ( they can send you home at any time as far as they tell you before) and one of the new and big issue, Taxes!!!.

Yes its nice to fly a A330 or A340 or 777 etc etc, on long haul routes, lay over in fantastic destinations but it takes a lot of sacrifices and will power to do it specially oversees. I am kind of lucky cause I am on a 8 weeks of 2 weeks of rotation and a part of initial cadre for the company I fly here in Asia, but a lot of my friends some times they go 4,6, even 8 months before they can see their families or their loved ones. Please make a good research before you decide to make that huge step. It's not only about the equipment you will fly or the money you will make. Contract flying and expatriot life style is not for everyone.
I don't want to discourage anyone, i want to poit some of the ''fine printing" on pursuing a job overseas. Be pation and be humble and things wil happend.

Thank you

When was the last time someone was called, how much time?

I'd stick with them until I made Capt and got on with a major in umteen years, Chicago would be fun.

I'd rather fly forest fires but that is a shot in the dark.
That's enough flight time to know better.
