Oil
Lately oil has been coming back down. Just saw gas today for 3.15/gal. I'm not for sure what Jet-A is running these days with oil coming down, but my question is... Are we going to see hiring coming back up? About 4-5 months ago when gas was around $2.80 range the airlineswere hiring like crazy.

once this country has a definite energy plan for the future I think oil prices will stabilized and we can see airlines planing better and hirring will resume again until then...no hiring like the last 2 years...just my two cents.

Yeah, the simple knowledge that oil CAN head towards $200 with no warning and for no good reason will keep energy consumers very conservative for the forseeable future.
Functional, economically viable alternatives will need to be available before anyone can feel at ease...that or about ten years of stable oil prices.

So can any of us newly minted CFI's plan on a job other than instructing for a while? I mean it's pretty discouraging to have spent a lot of money on training and ratings, all to find out that no company is hiring, and that huge pilot shortage is in fact quite the opposite it seems like. Not that it's any ones fault, except for greedy executives at oil companies that decide that "hey kids lets go on a family vacation to [insert extremely expensive place] for a week". So they increase oil prices to make up for "unusually high demand"

Oh i've always thought that I would have to instruct, and I think I will enjoy it, but the fact that people were getting hired to fly an RJ or any aircraft for money as soon as they passed their Comm. ME checkride sounded pretty good to me.

Well one thing we have to keep in mind is now that the tropical storm in the southeast has died down, oil will probably continue to go down, at least for the time being.... I am hoping that we have officially weathered the storm.... *fingers crossed*
