Default airline minimums/ 135

How crazy is it that you can be hired by a crappy airline now a days before you can be hired to fly checks?

How crazy is it that a 250 hour CFI can provide instruction for an ATP certificate?

Is that actually true? I thought you had to have the cert to give it....

The check flying is some of the most challenging flying that I have ever done. I believe that it has made me a better pilot across the board and when I'm ready to go fly a "shiny jet" I'll be able to take all the experience with me and try not to be a burden on my captain.

Wphen you get hired by the crappy airline, you are not the PIC as you are when you are flying cargo 135. You are also single pilot in the 135, so a little more experience in the decision making arena is required...nobody else to help you like there is in the airlines.

You can be a fresh-out-of-the-box private pilot and give somebody the required instruction for an ATP certificate.

135 check flying requires higher mins because you are the PIC as opposed to flying as a SIC for an airline.

Also remember that 135 freight dogs fly anything from SE pistons to flying B-1900's and Metro's single pilot.

I did it and learned a lot. As well as racked up a lot of PIC multi time.
