Default Groundschools and training

It has been an interesting year to say the least. I am in the pool and there are many unknowns. Yes i have emailed recruiting, received all the updates, and have tried to do research vs bugging them as i know they are busy and worried for their own futures. They are giving vague answers as im sure they dont know either. Questions for those in the know, in the pool, in training, online, rumour mill etc

do you think they (Hawaiian/Alaska) got together and prioritized the pool? Some of the information i saw with interview dates and placement in the pool dont add up. (I know it is what it is just a question of influence)

Have there been any groundschools lately, upcoming, or expected?

What are the numbers for ground schools/2024 new hires people are hearing/know?

pilot pool numbers?

Think they will actually drain the pool, throw away all the time, efforts, and money spent on over 100 pilots completing the process and are vetted just waiting?

Tough spot for many im sure. the dream is Hawaiian. Being this close with an expiration date is tough when other opportunities present themselves. Knowing aviation, never turn down an opportunity, i still dont want to accept other offers knowing that if i did get an invite from Hawaiian just after costing another company money who invested in me, and committed to me, it would be like a hot ex offering you one last go!

Smooth Ride!

Apply at every other major, if Hawaiian does call and you still want to take it, then you have that option. In the mean time you are giving up seniority at what may become your lifetime carrier. If the merger goes through, Hawaiian will not continue to exist. Alaska may hang onto the brand name, but it's going to be Alaska through and through. They will very likely want to be the ones to choose any new hires that show up, so I wouldn't count on any CJO past the merger close date, and we have next to no hiring forcast prior to that date. There are many better opportunites out there still, especially given what a mess seniority integration is going to become, and the fact that neither airline has any real growth planned.

Sure, everything but the hiring. We will continue with our own certificate for 18 months and will have to hire for the 787 and some freighter ops.
So that should be our hiring. Even then with fences in place, that is more than likely our pilots, but should be interesting what comes of hiring during JCBA negotiations and what is decided beyond that.

There is no more "ours" after the merger. Alaska will own two certificates, with two seperate PWA's, but the paychecks come from Alaska. There is no reason to think Alaska will let legacy Hawaiian pilot hiring boards dictate who Alaska hires for them.

I get that. But assuming either way is assuming. So OP, apply everywhere and yes there is still a chance HAL calls you.

I agree, however Alaska didn’t buy us to shrink. We were the plug and play option for a widebody international program. Although the transition will inevitably be rough and have a couple years of stagnation, there could be a lot of growth in the future. Alaska want to directly compete with the big 3. Of course this all depends on the proper execution, but let’s be honest…would HAL exist in 5 years with our current management team? “We’re right where we want to be”

I could go along with this and say "ok" but you said it yourself, PWA, two separate ones, guess what Einstein, the PWAs and the MECs are respectively separate and hiring will go hand in hand with our MEC, including the management team, minus the heavies at the top. AAG will need our, "Our" management team to hire as needed.
