Yes, absolutely, they will. They can get 1,000 more applications at the drop of a hat if they want them. Alaska did something similar a few years ago. They had a bunch of applicants from a meet & greet who were told they would be called for interviews "in a few weeks". Weeks turned into months, and then they just chucked all of them in the trash and started over again.

i still dont want to accept other offers knowing that if i did get an invite from Hawaiian just after costing another company money who invested in me, and committed to me, it would be like a hot ex offering you one last go!
Get over it. Forget the company PR and whatever little feel-good speeches their recruiters give. They feel nothing resembling loyalty to you. You are a name and some numbers on a page. They will dump you in a heartbeat if it suits them at the time. You owe them nothing and should give them as much consideration as they will give you. This is the airline business. At your earliest opportunity, you need to get in a seat you can stay in for a while, even if it's not your first choice, because you don't know when the opportunities to do so will end.

No offense, but how does any of this pertain to you? It appears you work for ATI…

I am a voice of experience with advice that applies generally in this screwy industry. Take it or leave it. It's worth at least as much as you paid for it. I would contend that it's worth more, but that's just me.

I do not work for ATI, as if that should matter. I can tell you that a good number of pilots have come and gone at my employer as well as ATI, some more quickly than others, leaving as soon as they got the offer from the airline they really wanted. They owed us no loyalty just as the OP owes no loyalty to any other airline at which he may choose to wait for an offer from Hawaiian that may never come. That's the way this business works, mostly, Frontier and some of the regionals now being notable exceptions. Do what is in your own best interest to advance your personal and career objectives, because nobody else will.

The invite to Hawaiian may never come. The future is Alaska or bankruptcy more than likely.
Hawaii summer tourism forecast is bleak and Japan may be years from coming back to the level it was.
The previous year hiring was rosey. Not now.

The pool may dry up well before the swimmers are skimmed into training. Airlines will clean the pool and toss the remains of those left at the bottom of the dried up pool. Like other carriers HAL hasn't made much of a financial investment during the interview process. There is no loyalty or concern of welfare or pleas to be patient for those swimming in the pools of HAL and other carriers.

That said, be proactive, apply everywhere, get hired into a class and get that seniority number.

Anyone have any insight about the ground instructor role at Hawaiian? Expected schedule, what airframe they put you on, heck even the future of the position with the AS buyout?
