When Alaskan bought Virgin America they immediately took over hiring. Expect the same to happen in August when this thing gets approved. A321s will be gone immediately, replaced by MAXs, A330s will stick around for a bit since they're owned/cheap leases. Once more 787s come they'll be gone. 717s will be replaced by MAXs but not 1 for 1.

Expect a mainland 787 base and redepolying planes off of the unprofitable routes immeditaly. Alaskan management hates markets with lots of competition, so I think there'd be some reduction in interisland and mainland flying.

Lol We can’t even get half the maxes we wanted this year. How are they going to immediately wipe a whole fleet and replace it with maxes.

how long did it take for the Virgin 320s to leave the fleet? Wasn’t the last one removed from the fleet just last summer? The terms on the leases of Hawaiians 321s are supposedly excellent. That along with the Boeing issues I would expect the 321s to remain on property longer than most expect.

The interesting problem is the 717 fleet. They are rapidly reaching their serviceability limit. Parts are hard to come by and they are having some significant mechanical issues lately.

Wow, you seem to know without any doubt...adament. At least just guess like most here, no one knows, not even you. This will be humorous when you're wrong on August 6.

I agree with 808! 🤙🏻

"Whole fleet" lol it's only 18 planes. Have Horizon do a few more flights and pull out of some more SFO routes and they can free up enough planes to cover it. Not that hard as im sure there's some inefficiency in there. 18 is nothing to justify the cost of training/management/etc

Alaskan didn't really know what to do with Virgin at the beginning of the aquisition. They presumably have learned something as it's still fresh and actually have a plan this time. Also most of the buses were parked during covid, guys got paid 50 hrs a month to sit at home and not fly. And at the end last year it was just a handful of the 321s, the 319s and most 320s were already parked.

Those 717s are going away quickly and they will just tag on inter island flying to the hawaii flying the 737s already do - like southwest.

They will be flying by the time everything is approved and AS management takes over

Agreed. 717 replacement May come before the a321. There is a time crunch and only so
many Max aircraft coming.

Tell me you know nothing about interisland without telling me you know nothing about interisland.
