A lot of drift was allowed, 3T +3. 5 hour oceanic crossing meant you could be 18 miles off and it was within limits.
Litton, thankfully it was the backup to the backup..Marconi and INS...haha, even backup to the bendix (?) GPS with pre programmed data cards for each region of the world.

Sounds like a question for a Delta pilot during their mission to the moon after reading their FOM for the crossing. We're to busy trying to get rid of HCF so we can do whatever it is we want to do to pass the time for the 5 named fixes we pass over and over and over.
