Since the day they took office it has been basically one big campaign to remain in power. Think about how many times since January 2021 Joe has mentioned "my predecessor" in a speech. I'll give everyone a hint since I watch this stuff religiously and don't miss a briefing if I'm around. From Joe to KJP to Peppermint Pattie, nearly every speech has been a talking point about "my predessor" or the "prior administration". No sustance on current policies working.
Whoever is running the Country will do whats best to remain in power. If that involves denying this takeover, so be it. If it involves letting the State of Hawaii blocking it, that's what will happen. I'll all but guarantee the DOJ has talked with the State of Hawaii AG about what the course of action should be to keep Harris in good standing.
I sure do miss a good Tweet these days.

Seattle is safer than Dallas if it saves most airlines. CVS kept longs footprint with employees.

I think the HI local pols priority is not keeping Harris in DC but rather keeping HAL out of bankruptcy since a lot of jobs could then shift to Dallas.
At this point, a few months from Nov, it looks like the critical swing voters care more about economic policy than progressive ideals. There's a good chance that NK will file before the election. That combined with attempting to block the AS merger and thereby placing HAL in financial jeopardy is not going to be a good look. Who do they care more about at this point, the bernie boy base or middle America swing voters? It's the later, harris has already done a complete 180 on most of her major policy positions from 2020.

Bottom line, she seems to blow with the political winds, which might actually allow a merger (or not want to be seen as screwing companies and jobs). Also possible that biden will seek to support her campaign by taking moderate positions up until Nov. Although personally I think biden has a lot of hard feelings for everyone associated with removing him from the running and isn't likely to bend over backwards to help. Could be wrong.
As fas as the merger goes? Trump would be more likely to push for approval. Harris might also do that, she needs a moderate appearance to have a shot in Nov but who knows what her position would be after the election.
She has blown with the winds (which can be a good thing sometimes), so she's very hard to predict at this point. I suspect she might actually be moderate as president for her first term, since her primary interest will be re-election.
Two wildcards:
1) If elected, what would Harris do wrt this merger?
2) If elected, can Trump fire that POS kanter? I think so, but am not certain. Can he order DOJ/Kanter to approve the merger/drop a lawsuit? I think so but again am not certain.

In the 2020 primary, she was pretty progressive. But that was a flip-flop mostly from her time as CA AG. In 2024 she has again flipped away from progressive positions, as an expediency for the general election.

What makes you so sure Trump would let it get approved, or not blocked, that's bold to know exactly what he'd do, how could you possibly know? What does Trump care? or what would he care?
