Again, let's test your character friend, are you ok with a negotiating committee member out for 2 years with a surfing injury receiving ALPA pay and not entering the VEBA program? I'm not, pretty sure 99.9% of the pyramid isn't either.
Would you just answer yes or no, then we know what type of person you are.

You are aware that instructors can lose their medical for up to 2 years and continue to instruct? I’m sure alpa has a similar policy.
It’s amazing to me how few full time alpa volunteers we have compared to even regional airlines.
Where did you work before…? It almost seems like you’re pretending to be someone you’re not, that has an ulterior motive here…
Apologies for interrupting your yelling. Back to your previously scheduled recall agenda!

He had been doing alpa work prior, and I’m pretty sure he was out less than 2 years. Also pretty sure he burned sick as previously mentioned.

Let me get this straight, If you do prior ALPA work you get ALPA pay while you are out on medical leave? The MEC should be able to supply us with the pay and sick leave usage, it was our money.
Just viewed the contract, and yes instructors are allowed 2 years to instruct, but I could not find anything for "volunteer" negotiating committee members to receive ALPA Pay while out on a medical leave. Is that another LOA?
Are you kidding me, everyone I talk to is on the ALPA HA gravy train. I came from a regional where I was one of those volunteers, with "No Pay" and no days off.
Where did you work before? Last 4 digits of your SSN? No, I have no agenda except maybe getting out of here before we take it in the shorts with the SLI.
Unlike your Good Ole Boy group, I prefer to reference the pyramid, which means all HA pilots not just the 6 and their Good Ole Boys.

SWA TA passed with 92%+ YES votes - that's incredible!
Hawaiian was the first legacy to pass TA last contract season right? Maybe that's why we had such low YES vote %?
I am always onboard the train of thought that generally heads to "worry about what we can change ahead." I hope we get something great with JCBA with Alaska this time . That we what we can change for us!
However, we must also look at the track behind us and think about what happened. I am new to the company, but I have met with a fair number of grumpy individuals who genuinely believe that our contract could have been a lot better and we were too 'hasty.' I don't think we should overturn graves and start blaming this and that - BUT we should also not just ignore complaints from the less happy people at our company.
