It is surprising that you chose to apply to Hawaiian and even more surprising that you stuck around with the mindset you have toward the airline. You have always had the choice to leave, or are the other airlines worse to you (you seem to be enamored with AS so that doesn't seem to be the issue) or is it that you tried and they wouldn't hire you? The best way to show you dislike an airline is vote with your feet and go to another, plenty have left HAL for other airlines who have far far less dislike for HAL and the HAL MEC than you exhibit so it is just surprising you didn't just leave. Some have left simply bc they want to live on the mainland as you seem to want, but liked the company. With the trifecta of wanting to live on the mainland, dislike for HAL leadership and dislike for the HAL MEC why wait 2-3 or more years on the chance you MIGHT get a "grass is greener" situation and then finally get a chance to move to the mainland and the utopia of an airline where you love the leadership and union represenation? Why not just jump to whatever airline fits your desires of an LAX base and a great corporate and MEC leadership? All of those things don't make a lot of sense to have chosen HAL or stayed with HAL, pretty easy the last few years to jump for most folks and get what they want.

good luck getting that merger approved!

I'm sure HA Management and the MEC (All the same now with the buddy-buddy relationship) would love to see me leave HA. Why? Maybe because someone finally called them out on their sneaky GRAVY TRAIN deals. GreenPatures just answer me one question please, are you ok with a negotiating committee member out of work with a surfing injury for 2 years receiving ALPA pay, and never entering the VEBA program? This my friend is why I am mad, because this is corruption and all you have to say about it is I should go somewhere else? How about demanding answers on why this is happening? You should leave HA because you are part of the problem, my friend. You should apply for a nonunion airline in Asia, you know the type that will upgrade you because you play golf with the right guy. This seems to be the type of airline that makes you happy, in your mind corruption is ok. It also tells me you don't love HA because if you did you would demand answers and STOP this from happening.

I see a lot of comments regarding the Union leadership, previous chairs versus current chairs and some other things that seem to be on people’s minds.

Just so you know, this is Sean Kimura, HAL MEC Block 3 rep. I will start by saying while I may not agree with the viewpoints I have read on here; I do respect that you have them and that you feel that way. I have several times since being elected approx. a year and a half ago offered to sit down with anyone who had any issues, including concerns with leadership to discuss anything they wanted to. So again, I am offering to sit down with you and discuss any issues you may have. If you don’t want to speak with me, I’m sure any of the MEC will be willing to sit down with you. I understand that venting on a forum sometimes helps, but if you really want to create change, I welcome you to be a part of it. I look forward to hearing from any of the HAL pilots on here. Sorry I must limit this to HAL pilots only. =)
No response, maybe you would feel more comfortable responding via ALPA communications. How about you give the Pilot Group an explanation via an ALPA communication of the following questions below? If these are false claims then they should easily be validated by pay data or the like. I will not call you or email you because we are past that point now, all communication should be to the Pilot Group, you know the upside-down pyramid that ALPA is built on. Please stop communicating by singling out individuals, you need to address the Pilot Group as a whole, we are the pyramid.

- Why is your FLICA blocked?
- Why can't you post the Van usage log on an ALPA communication memo?
- Was it your idea for the Van?
- are you ok with ALPA pay on weekends and Holidays?
- are you ok with ALPA "Comp" days with no work hours being tracked on a spreadsheet?
- are you ok with the MEC Chair receiving 90 hrs a month without ever being in Hawaii working remotely?
- are you ok with the lead negotiator receiving 90 hrs a month without ever being in Hawaii working remotely?
- are you ok with a negotiating committee member out for two years on ALPA pay without entering VEBA?
- are you ok with the Vice Chair snowboarding while on ALPA pay and missing a TA road show?
- are you ok with the MEC buying a 50k van and not getting approval from the pilot group?
- are you ok with the MEC starting a LEC to avoid a pilot MEC vote?
- Can we please see all PUB Night and Christmas party costs?

If the government is concerned about the well-being of the consumer, then HA filing bankruptcy as a result of the merger being blocked may be of concern, amount many other details, just a thought.

Overwhelming feeling of “wrong forum” and this discussion should be on Voggers in house where it belongs.

If these questions are as FOSTRO implies, it shows that corruption is/becomes endemic and you really have to clean house if you want to set a new "precedent" in the way you want your union to spend it's funds. Tranparency and accountability are the only disinfectants that can improve these type of misdeeds once they become commonplace.

The justice department is gonna block the $hit out of this merger given the mandate they just got today.

It's worse. A ha/as merger would create a near total monopoly on the mainland to hawaii routes.

I speak from experience, Voggers is not in the house, it's in the MEC house. This post would be removed immediately and I would receive a phone call explaining to me this isn't factual information and it's hurting the negotiating process. My friend, try and post something on Voggers that isn't positive toward the MEC and see what happens. This is why we created our forum to avoid being censored, "Censorship is the tool used when the LIE loses its power".

You were wrong when you said this in the AS forum, and you're still wrong. Apples to oranges.

And DOJ didn't get a "mandate". They may have just got lucky and drawn a sympathetic judge.
