In regards to Alaska putting 175s in the islands, I wouldn't worry too much.
What you're seeing on here is kind of a tongue in cheek joke by alaska pilots. Before we had scope they were putting tons of 175s everywhere, even on routes you'd expect a 737 on. They'd say we are 'testing the market' and silly stuff like that.
They can barely staff the 175s we have now, can't see them trying to shift any of them to Hawaii. It's a common joke on the line, but to my knowledge it isn't actually being considered.
Plus, doesn't Hawaiian scope prevent that somehow anyway?

You have to take it in context. Alaska pilots watched Skywest fly ultra-long turns in the ERJ when it first appeared. Think PDX-STL, PDX-AUS, PDX-MSP. We're talkin 7:30+ turns. Then eventually flying from the west coast to JFK through Dallas. These are all routes that nobody ever imagined regional aircraft would be doing. All while we had 0 scope to prevent or even hinder it. So it's not funny, but it's funny. The ERJ will never work inter-island, nor could they spare the planes or the pilots to make it work.

Plus they have planes that work. Maybe not compete inter island but connect some of their OGGs and LIHs, or KOA maybe.
They may as well start now.
