Am I excited at the prospect of flying a 737 for the rest of my career? no... do I believe that AS wants to park all of the Airbus fleet and not order any more than the 12 787's.. also no. I think there will be net widebody growth, not so much from our existing HNL base, but system wide as HA brings the quick "Turn key" ability to work those operations into the AS system quickly.

Fact is, 50% of HA pilots were flying a wide body (and the pay that went with it).. so it will not be an easy pill to swollow that (at least in the long term) this will not be the case for "us" .. however, I think AS management will ADD to the widebody flying.. maybe not to where half of the combined "us" has flying wide body, but where it's an over all will for everyone involved.
I honestly have no idea how things will shake out. I do understand based on Alaskas history why you feel the way you do! I can speculate, and I suspect it will happen the exact OPPOSITE of what I think ;-). First of all, I think the Airbus's you have will be around longer than you'd think! Why? They're paid for. Alaska loves cheap stuff! Plus it is an amazing airplane. HNL will be instrumental in anything going forward. I. Sure you've heard ALK is a credit card company that operates airplanes? Well, your network MAKES our credit card astronomically more valuable. We now have a West Coast International gateway out of Seattle, with our own company. I do think Seattle will grow because it has to with seats, not airframes (dam ocean limiting the geography ;-)). Alaska has always looked west, not east. And I really believe this may be the first time in our history we don't retreat to Seattle. I'm gonna catch a lot of crap for that, but time will tell, and I'm probably wrong! Either way, I look forward to meeting you and making this the best company in aviation! Cheers!

and where I see the most upside is Asia-ANC. That's a guess, but it's untapped! Let's see how she goes!!

By stating "always looked west" for Alaska, you mean since 2007 becasue before that they mostly looked south to Mexico...

That would be amazing! I think there was a start up airline that wanted to tap into that market flying 757s. Connecting Asia and Alaska and then into the U.S.

It’s New Pacific and you’re exactly right. Due to the war in Ukraine and the impacts on Russian airspace, they’ve changed directions and have been flying out of Ontario, CA to places like Reno / Vegas / Nashville. Will be interesting to see if the airline attempts to eventually shift back to Anchorage or if they just focus on growing what they’ve been building out of ONT.

Best advice I can give, get your apps in at delta or united and try to latch on to this hiring wave. Good luck

Please ignore these people. Ala5ka, Disappointment, are two examples of POed ex-VX who created these screennames specifically as insults against their new owners. There is no making them happy.

I don’t know, it sounds like Ala5ka might have worked for HAL in the past. We hear some of his complaints from our 5% as well!

We are all in this together now, so let’s unify and get an industry leading JCBA!
