Neither regional aircraft can even come close to doing what the 717 does. Horizon can’t staff the flying we currently want them to do, how are they going to cover inter-island? Just go away man. Your troll game is weak.

not to mention current Hal scope doesn’t allow qx to operate inter-island. That could change with the jcba ,I would hope fellow AS pilots that recently acquired scope protections and seen ramifications of not having it (qx flying longer routes) would favor keeping scope on interisland flying.

Delta probably bought it. The 717s will end up at DL soon.

I think the current generations of airline pilots will have absolutely zero tolerance for any sort of scope relief, by a very wide margin.

But the economic realities make it very, very hard to put scope toothpaste back in the tube for current regional ops... have to break contracts, pay penalties, re-align mainline flying to cover, and likely drop routes that can't be profitably operated with narrowbodies. That would take a whole lot of negotiating capital.

Status Quo is more likely, ie should be able to keep the islands mainline, aside from whatever prop flying is happening. If there's any scope allowance whih is not currently being utilized, that's lower hanging fruit... might be able to cap scope at current operating levels (QX parked a bunch of planes recently).

We’ll also take those 321’s and 330’s off their hands.

Supposedly you can’t make any money off less than 30 A/C in a specific fleet, which is why Hawaiian was bound to collapse and file BK. Hawaiian only has 18 321’s, 24 330’s, and 19 717’s. Alaska will sell those off for next to nothing.

Define very soon. The DOT has mandated that for 6 years we maintain levels of service. At the very least we've got a year before JCBA, meaning "very soon" couldn't be sooner than a year due to scope. On top of that, I'd like to see a reasoned explanation on how you drop from a 128 seat airplane to a 78 seat plane. In the medium term I could see a case for having a Horizon presence to supplement a 737 operation, however I can't imagine a fleet of 5 E-175's making sense for the company. At the end of the day, nobody knows what they're going to do, except for that "very soon" is not going to happen.. The best we can hope for is incorporation of our scope language into the JCBA, with that same language being expanded to SE Alaska.

Are folks in the pool having their CJOs extended beyond the year? It'll likely start to come into play soon for those in the pool.

Hawaiian made a ton of money for many years with specific fleets smaller than that. That being said, they are either going to expand those fleets, or get rid of them. The 717 doesn't have a lot of legs left in it, the 321 is an incredible aircraft that Alaska may or may not want to take advantage of, kind of depends how sick of Boeing Alaska is at this point. The 330 will probably last at least a while longer given that Alaska bought us to get widebodies. 12 787's by 2030 isn't the game plan. Everyone assumes that Alaska is going to go with the 787 because they are historically a Boeing only company, but if you can't buy the product, you find something you can buy. 330's are relatively cheap and much easier to come by. I think there is just as good a chance they choose the 330NEO or 350 as the widebody of choice as there is that they go with a 787 that they can't get their hands on for at least half a decade.

717 is a tank and **** gonna fly for many more years.
Speaking of time you know you're on an airline forum, right? LOL

Actually, it does affect me because soon I will be paying dues to ALPA and it bothers me that your MEC is still milking ALPA money. Instead of firing at me maybe you should be looking into where your dues money is going, you know parties, dinners with execs, ALPA paid days while surfing. LOL

In regards to the 717 if you call 2025 many more years then ok. It's not the flight cycles remaining, it's the cost of maintaining an old diesel that doesn't have any parts available. The simulator will not be moved because a normal simulator can only handle a few shipments in its lifetime.

I haven't posted anything on this page that wasn't factual, I should remind you, don't be mad at someone who points out the facts.

Still Wishing you the Best Industry Contract, In Unity...

You are absolutely correct, no changes will be happening with the 717, it benefits AS to have HA lose 1.5-1.8 million a day!

Wake Up, In Unity...
