I have to say Hawaiian's response in regards to them reduced hiring has been pathetic. Them estimating a lower required workforce is not the issue but it has been their response since. Somehow it took nearly a month for them to "determine" people's list in the pool. Once this number was finally determined, to state they are committed to hiring from the pool in 2024 and 2025 but under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will CJO's be extended beyond 1 year is completely classless! You're clearly not committed to hiring from the pool! We will probably see an issue in 2025 where so many prospective pilots who have been patient and committed to Hawaiian Airlines have their CJO's expire and people who have been waiting half the amount of time will get offers. Hawaiian needs to take a chapter out of Southwest's book and extend those CJO's and show some faith in people who have invested time and effort into them! I understand it's conditional but that doesn't negate the use of common sense and humility.

It’s a CJO. It’s conditional based on a myriad of factors. Those factors probably also include many people at Koapaka knowing they probably won’t have a job if the merger goes through and their work will shift to those already in Seattle. If the merger doesn’t go through then the company is going to have to reorganize and come with a way to make a profit- probably with less pilots and re-negotiated employment contracts. Sorry to say- you are not really a priority

You should be a applying elsewhere and taking whatever comes first

To compare HA to SW is dumb. One has close to 13 billion in the bank and a profitable operation up until last quarter. The other is losing 1.5 million dollars a day.

Comparing how they treat people doesn't matter about profitability or size or if its a CJO so your point there is completely invalid. Also, as I said I am not concerned about them reducing their pilot requirement. But how they went about it was pathetic, and that is my concern.

Obviously, apply for everything and anything!

Trying to make sense of how and why Hawaiian does anything is an exercise in futility.

This is giving me deja vu from the early Covid era. CJOs all told they would expire, telling the poolies better luck next time, only to reverse course outta the blue summer of ‘21 and say never mind we want you! Seniority in the 750-850 range know. It was a mind**** to say the least. Expect the unexpected with HAL

Alaskan likes to control things, they involved themselves in the Virgin America hiring almost immedietly after the announcement. Expect that to be true again.

Doesnʻt make sense, why not ask for updated info at CJO expirations and extend if still current and has a medical. Starting over with interviews is a waste of time and resources.

But, I received an email a few weeks ago saying it might be subject to change and could be longer than initially expected.
So what's your current position in the pool now?

I'm trying to make sense of this positioning but I can't. I got CJO mid November and I am close to #50. I'm just wondering if they took into account fleet preferences, which I asked them about and they said that you'll get invite to fright or pax class regardless of your preferences. So I don't understand how people with the same month of CJO as mine got April class, and I am currently in 50ies.

Folks with CJO if you don't mind sharing your dates of CJO current position and main fleet preference Freight or Pax, maybe we can find the pattern here.
