😆🤣😆
Alaska would be lucky to have a net increase of 40-60 737s in the next 6-8 yrs

Wouldnt it be Ironic if i was a 20 something year old stuck at a legacy? at least i know my 17% 401k and my 20 year + widebody command would be insured by the mass retirements over the next 5 years. Seems a bit safer than the cargo game at moment?

Your 20+ yo wisdom has it figured out. Yes at the moment in regards to cargo. Ask anyone older than you about 9/11 or 2008 or any other down turn. AA furloughed at 9/11 and didn't hire again until 2013, what happens to all those pilots? Many went to may have gone to UPS or FedEx I hope.
FedEx and UPS become much more popular of an idea then.

Your sitting at your legacy as a new hire and soon furloughed, then what? What about that 17% again...

Good luck is all there is. You may do well, I hope so. 20+ years as a WB captain making all that money, wow.
If hiring has truly slowed and stops soon, you ride it all the way and retire at the same airline, good for you!

I don't think you're making a bad decision. Lots and lots of variables for sure but like you say there is at least a solid plan and trajectory at the big 3. There is a very good chance things will get very ugly at AS/HA if the two airlines merge, at least for the combined seniority list.

Enjoy your life and have fun. I hope you have a great career too.

What the other guys’ have said. You may be young and smart but this career involves a fair amount of luck……

You mention cargo. FedEx was a dream job for many of us.

Don't let the haters bother you. You were in a win-win situation and IMO picked the best option. You're company isn't going anywhere, you'll make more money and hopefully pick a place to live that isn't in CA or NY. You'll have a nicer home, better schools, lower COL, and retire with more net wealth.

Many at HA just can't fathom anything outside of HI being better. Meanwhile over here we have a Governor and Mayors who are just intent on destroying basically the only economic engine in the State. Thereby hurting our own airline business.

When everything is down 10-25% yOy (except money being spent due to retarded inflation and prices) and the powers that be keep saying "all is well". That to me is a huge red flag.

VRBO's affordable at $250/night, hotels near $1000/night. Wonder what will happen with tourism when Counties start messing with zoning?

Does anyone in the hiring pool have any updates?

Got my CJO in December but latest update has me in the pool well below the 30-40 projected hires.
Not sure how someone with November CJO got an April class date, no way they hored 50+ in a month. Hopefully people in the pool find better opportunities but not looking good.

April class was freighter only, so if they wanted the freighter they could go to class.

I don't know how huge a difference it makes, but it seems like your order in the pool is based off when you passed your background check and psych eval, not when you got the CJO.
