All of our 717s are full, so you're "mostly" just getting the overflow and people that would have flown on a caravan anyway. You guys just fill the hole that Island Air left. Knock yourself out. There's room for both of us out here. When international really comes back, our 717s will be busting at the seams. Now, when Frontier comes out and starts taking your mainland feed, stuff will get interesting.

I didn't. Hawaiian was flying big jets overseas long before I got hired here. Probably since your regional airline was "crapping diapers".
I love how you fan-boy Hawaiian wanna-be's keep trolling over here. We're hiring, you know. Since you work at SWA, just save up a little for your new hire hotel. If you're really nice, maybe you could stay with someone. I don't live there, so I couldn't help.

New hire housing at Hawaiian... is it still in Nanakuli or did it move to the tents in Waimanalo? I keep getting conflicting gouge... But I did hear that the chief reason Hawaiian raised the new hire pay was because aside from new hires embarrassing the brand by applying for government poi, new hires would get tired of getting their tents "redistributed" and their hoopties broken into before their year was up. Way to take care of your people!
At least at the ole Southwestern Trailways, we put the new hires at Hilton Anatole in Dallas. I know, it's not nearly as exciting as Nanakuli, and no mokes to give you a proper e komo mai by giving you the ole "we grew here - you flew here, you elfin' haole" shtick. Now you just gotta slum it up in the floating river while you study the SWA way of flying the second-best jet ever made.

Psst.... your loads are visible on your website. Just for kicks, I compared our loads to yours... they tend to follow the same pattern. When we're running full, you're running full... conversely, when we're empty, you're empty too. Go figure.
All in good jest... no malice intended and no ill-will or anything other than toasting for a long and prosperous career to my brethren at Hawaiian.

Doubtful. We're gonna be flying 737SUPERDUPERMAX1000 until cows come home and that'll be long after you and I are retired... as long as it shares a common type rating with the old 737-200. We aren't capable of anything that requires a different type rating, even if it's 737 MAX 7. But hey, you enjoy your bigger jets. I'll enjoy my bigger paycheck. Everyone happy!
Brah.... get it right. Hawaiian was operating big jets overseas long before Southwest was an itch in Herb's pants, but now Herb's itch can buy you for petty cash... What happen bu?

That's because you're flying the best jet ever made... and not only that, you're about to become freight trash too.

I’ve come to the conclusion that you are former Aloha Airlines and didn’t get hired at Hawaiian. The over “localization/pidgin” of your posts are childish and unnecessary. Southwests Hawaii operation is a money losing situation. Especially it’s interisland schedule. The price matching hurts us no doubt, but Hawaiian will never cut bait interisland and allow Southwest control that market. Unfortunately for you we fly much more than just our own customers interisland. Go ahead and put your Hawaiian flag out the cockpit window at the gate and give cheap ukuleles to your passengers. Nobody cares and it just looks tacky. I’ve flown the 737 and while I enjoyed it I would hate to fly it for the next 25 years. To each his own though. You do you and we will do us. BRAH

Whatever makes you feel better Sherlock…
I will say this though…. It takes applying and interviewing to “not get hired.” Recall Hawaiian’s first year pay up until recently? Worked great for kids coming from the south ramp who don’t know any better, or those living with parents. It’s been even tough on military retirees… Way to say e komo mai!
I actually enjoy the back and forth banter. It’s just unfortunate that, at least on this board, so many are devoid of any sense of humor and have such fragile egos that they can’t take any friendly ribbin’, but absolutely love dishing it out first… It’s actually pretty sad when one can’t even crack any self-deprecating jokes, or recognize them for that matter.
As to whether or not Hawaii is a money-losing operation… you do understand that Southwest is the West Coast and California powerhouse, right? This is the mere extension of that, and it’s such a small part of the operation. To put it in perspective… we fly what… 60 flights a day interisland? Out of over 4000 flights a day systemwide and growing… That’s literally crumbs when you look at our overall operation, but it’s important enough to serve and maintain presence because it’s an extension of our West Coast operation.
As for flying a 737 for the rest of my career… meh… that’s not all I’m flying. In any case, I care far more about the numbers on my paycheck and the numbers going to my retirement account than I do about whether it’s a 737, A320 or 787. But that’s me…
Meanwhile….. keep digging, Holmes!

Ha. Right. I’ve jumped on you guys several times while on vacation. The only times they’re full are when the mainland flights come in and then your pax head out to other islands.
And we only fly others??? Not even remotely close. Can’t tell you how many locals have personally thanked us for doing what we do. They’re so thankful for not getting ripped off anymore by “them”. Over 70% of our workforce in Hawaii are locals, most of them from Hawaiian. I’ve talked to them. They know who we’re flying in the islands, and truthfully, so do you.
Any other airline in the world post a loss last quarter other than you? Serious question.

I get why HAL pilots are obsessed with SWA (existentially threatening). It’s unclear after your own admission of how insignificant Hawaii is to SWA that both you and SMF are obsessed. You guys on Frontier bashing them? Get your jollies taunting weaker competitors?
We do have somethings you don’t got. We’re able to fly one stage a day and can get 95 hours and record no landings if we want it. The rest of the seniority list (717/321) is home 365 days out of the year. There’s value in that. Paychecks and balance sheets aside, people pick their bed and lay in it.

Sorry fan boys... HA was here long before you, and we'll be long after you. You can poke us, make fun of us, and even hurt us. But we won't be going anywhere. That picture of the mouse flipping off the eagle comes to mind. All in good rivalry run.
