Not saying the sky is falling, just saying there is an addition of 16 positions, and an elimination of 80 positions compared to the last vacancy so that would be a net of (64). You are right, overstaffed is the wrong term. It would appear as we are right staffed in most categories while overstaffed in 330P as six positions have been cancelled in addition to the 43 new hire slots, but movement and upgrades into the 330F and 787 would negate those.

your guess is as good as mine. It very much depends on what everybody senior to them does. Looking at the bid I would think they would only go freight if they wanted to. There’s enough FO slots on the 787 and a few on the 321 that HNL base is still where they can stay. Unless some cargo guys bid back to HNL they won’t be forced to freight.

its not a net over staff of 64. It is zero percent of our current pilots on property. It basically eliminated most of the unfilled positions. I think at the end of the math equation there’s about 11-17 unfilled (new hire) positions on the vacancy. The sky is not falling, but hiring will slow significantly.

They go to wherever their seniority can hold. If that pushes another pilot off a fleet, that pilot goes to wherever their seniority can hold. Think there is "cannot be forced to CVG" language in the Contract? In that event, a pilot would have a choice... Furlough, or suck it up and head to the midwest. Typically, with such a small number of cancellations of current seat holders, I would doubt there would be much shuffling. Usually there is a cascade effect of training events, wasted training costs etc.... No way HA would waste money on uneccesary training... Oh wait... nevermind.
