Vacancy reflects six aircraft I thought I heard on either the Flight ops town hall or one of the other calls. I’ve also been hearing from junior FOs about a mythical 5 yr widebody upgrade. The junior freighter Cap is 6.5 and the junior widebody pax Cap is 7.5. I don’t see the 330s dropping lower with the merger. 321 Cap may get increasingly junior.

No way, no idea. When the first bid came out, it was about 28 captains for 4 planes so 7 crews per plane. That seems ok for North America domestic only, but considering 117 rules and freight bouncing all over the mainland, 8-9 crews may seem better. I don't know anyone that knows the math.
Who knows, if anyone else has some ideas or thoughts, chime in.
We apparently will have 7 by the end of the year and the remaining three by summer next year. Someone asked that in a company webcast.
Plus 3 or 4 787s this year.

They originally said 160 pilots for 10 airframes, which would be 8 per seat. Right now there’s 48 captains so 6 sounds about right…leaving 32 more vacancies. Hard to tell with the lack of people hired in 2020/2021 but I could see it making its way into the 700s seniority wise. At about 600 right now.

I just looked at the FO application page and the page is not there: https://recruiting2.ultipro.com/HAW1...d-48e39a8ac09b
I’m still able to login. But I wonder what this means, hopefully just a page update/outage perhaps? Maybe they’re updating it from “FIRST002302”?

based off of the “vacancy bid” that came out yesterday I could see the application being closed for the time being. It basically eliminated 64 new hire positions and reduced most fleets to current staffing levels. They did say they would continue to have new hire classes(probably small classes) through the rest of the year, but I would expect most of it to be on the freighter side.

Thanks! So if I already submitted it (mid March ish) I should still see and wait for additional email/invite? (And if I do get an offer I was going to ask for freight anyway)

Theres currently ~120 in the pool from what I last heard, almost all new hire positions have been eliminated, even making its way to some on-property positions across all fleets. I would not count on anything soon. Current vacancy shows us overstaffed by net 64 pilots with all vacancies on the 330F and 787. That number seems small but represents 7% of our pilot group.

its not a net over staff of 64. It is zero percent of our current pilots on property. It basically eliminated most of the unfilled positions. I think at the end of the math equation there’s about 11-17 unfilled (new hire) positions on the vacancy. The sky is not falling, but hiring will slow significantly.

Not saying the sky is falling, just saying there is an addition of 16 positions, and an elimination of 80 positions compared to the last vacancy so that would be a net of (64). You are right, overstaffed is the wrong term. It would appear as we are right staffed in most categories while overstaffed in 330P as six positions have been cancelled in addition to the 43 new hire slots, but movement and upgrades into the 330F and 787 would negate those.
