I would like to fly the inner island flights which is like flying for a reginal airline. I don't hold an ATP. I am not willing to move to the mainland to obtain an ATP through a regional airline here; I would like to stay put on the island of Hawaii (Big Island). Is there any way Hawiian or Southwest can answer some HR questions of my concern like... Is there any other alternitave method besides moving to the mainland to fly for a regional there while getting ATP through them? If I pay for ATP/CTP class what are the chances of guarantee I will be hired by Hawiian or SW for their inner island flights if I foot the cost of training with 0 jet time or the basic sim training from the ATP/CTP class? For what it is worth I am over 5,000 TT and over 1,500 of multi. I haven't logged time in years.

I hear Hawiian don't have an HR department and SW HR department is basicly fill out an application and wait for a call but why would they even call when they see or can't complete the application because I don't hold an ATP?

Southwest doesn’t have exclusive interisland flights. Planes come from mainland then do a few days of interisland flying then fly back to mainland

Hawaiian does have inter-island flights only for as long as 717 stays flying. Once Alaska buys Hawaiian the best guess is 737 pilots willl do inter-island and mainland flying.

So probably not worth paying for your atp if you are set on flying interisland only.

while hiring is never like it has been before it’s not just turn in an online application. Plenty of pilots are still getting “thanks but no thanks” from all airlines

One would think if they had a way to an ATP out here it would create a sense of loyalty to flying out here.

Get current and apply at Mokulele. Build some time and then apply at Aloha Cargo (not sure they can get you the ATP in their training), but last I heard they have hired guys straight from the caravans). However, from your post I don’t think you want to put in the effort to be an airline pilot and that’s gonna be the biggest barrier to achieving your goals.

There hasn't been and likely never will be a shortage of pilots with the proper qualifications applying to all of the major airlines. You have to jump through some hoops to get to the big show just like the rest of us did.

Inner island isn't the "big show" or is it really? It's like flying for a small regional. So the process is go to a regional on the mainland to step on them for an ATP then if the timing is right get hired for inner island flight which is shorter flights??? hmmmm!

How can we create a small change in this industry?
...and then why is the first year FO pay so extreamly low at Hawiian? You want guys to say around and prove they want to do this??? I'm confused.

Just for you? Not likely at all, tbh. Put in the effort for a multi-million $$ career.

Interisland at Hawaiian isn’t a separate airline like you’re hinting at. You are the same as a pilot here flying to the west coast or other destinations. Just because you want to fly interisland doesn’t mean they’ll change the hiring, bidding, seniority process, etc for you.

Can't tell if you're trolling or not but...Regional flying isn't just short routes, and mainline isn't just longhaul. I did plenty of 2+hr regional flights, and I have been on plenty of united/american/delta flights that are under 1 hour. You seem to be pretty far disconnected from the industry and largly unwilling to do anything that would make yourself competitve which is why you aren't getting any phone calls. Just because you have 5000 hour does mean you should be able to walk into the front door of any airline and have them begging for your experience. Have you ever been through a 121 training program? Just FYI, It's the people not willing to learn something that tend to struggle the most.
