So I went through the CJO process and, I believe, completed it. But when I emailed to tell them my earliest start date I requested the first available cargo class, I really never heard anything back after that.

For any one else who expressed a preference for freight, have you heard anything at all from Hawaiian about what they thought was a timeline for a class date?

And for anyone who is at Hawaiian who might have an insight on this, if it turns out they fill all the Cargo class spots and have people left over with CJO's, do those CJO's expire after a year?

I don't want to seem overly pessimistic, but if they staffed 4 330 freighters with only 7 new hires, then it seems like they might staff the next 6 without dipping very deep into the supposed 40-50 people they've hired for the freight operation. Which is what an earlier poster had stated.

Any one who has any insight on how the recruiters are going to handle this, or how many people they think they are going to hire for the freight operation, I appreciate any opinions you can offer.

Thank you all for your great suggestions. It's daunting but seems like moving is doable!

After completing the process I emailed and said I would be interested in freight as well. Got a response that it was noted in my profile but no indication or estimate on freight specific class dates.

I assume it’s so new that estimating aircraft conversions would be difficult, much less bringing on the pilots to staff those P2Fs.

Question App under review email

Aloha all,

I recently received the app under review email (about 2 weeks ago) but no interview invite, does anyone know a timeline on interviews when they start reviewing the app?

Mahalo,
Mine was one week between review and invite emails. That was back in June. Don’t know if that helps.

Mahalo,
A recruiter told me to expect three weeks or more after the app under review email.

I have one internal rec being written by a HAL pilot, but does anyone know if recs are considered from people who are *not* HAL employees?

I received an interview invite 2 weeks after they said they were reviewing my app (in September). I am also really hoping for a freighter class, but wondering if it's safer to just get going and start earning seniority, then bid freighter when it's available (provided I'm not seat-locked)?

Being a Freight Pilot, we do not even know when all the new planes are being delivered or what type of flying they will produce. I would just get over here and start building seniority. They do vacancy bids and you can also get to the freighter by bidding as a current pilot If you get the 330. You will be seat locked for 2 years however if you're on the NEO or the 717.

Good Luck!

They've told the A330 pax guys in my class that they are seat locked from getting the freighter. The vacancy bid may say something different when the results come out, though. We are hearing that the next freighter class will be early next year. Your CJO is good for a year. If you really want a freighter, you can defer until it's available.
