Hawaiian Hiring FOs

IMHO, the quick upgrade from all last year in the 717 may slow and balance itself out. I know many recent upgrades in the 717 tell me in person that they’ll stay in it as a captain. There are about a dozen more to upgrade on the 717 from the large upgrade numbers from the December vacancy awarded in January.

They have typically been like that historically, I just posted that for recent classes. It seems they’ll keep pumping people through the 717 to keep it staffed as an unknown factor of pilots will bid off the 717 as soon as their freeze is up, if, big if there are vacancies elsewhere. As what’s been discussed and known by all is that we’ll continue to hire like elsewhere and for the foreseeable future there will be movement and opportunities to bid away from the 717.

I see! Well I signed up for the first available class date regardless. I'll take earliest possible seniority rather than to delay class for an unknown shot at 321/330. Like you said, I hope I will eventually get to move on after the seat lock finishes. Maybe learning inter island ops and slugging out some landings might be better for me in the long run... since I don't come in with a lot of experience.
I’ve just passed 1,000 total hours, and closing in on 700 ME turbine. Currently flying the Embraer 145. Sort of looks like a small 717, and most of my trips are 30ish minutes wheels up to wheels down in SoCal. Is throwing in an application at 1500 hours and a fresh ATP, with no training failures, no accident history, no drama, no felony convictions, no restraining orders, and no drug issues going to result in a call for an interview?
Is it beneficial to get my ATP along with an A320 type rating? Any other suggestions here to spice up the resume and get the ball rolling? Happy to jump through the necessary hoops, but seniority has its advantages and sometimes I can hear the islands calling while at FL370 and it’s hard knowing we don’t quite have the range to fly out there.

What do you consider to be a lot of experience? They offered you a job, so they must have liked what they saw in you.
