If HNL is your domicile, then no hotel. If it isn’t, meaning CVG domicile and commuting via gateway city, then yes hotel in HNL.

Hotels provided in MIA.

No short course for previous experience.

Footprint varies but it’s about 2 months from day one to the type ride and then can vary for IOE based on fleet. 717 seems to be getting thru faster.

ahh no, having a type rating doesn’t give you some privileges to a shorter course, no 121 carrier, FAA does such a thing. Welcome to the airlines, apparently you haven’t worked for one.

Let me re-phrase, A320 type and less than 500 in type from another 121 carrier. Just a simple question.
Of course with my last four in the 9's I would probably be straight to the 717 fleet anyway. What is the shortest reserve call for the 717? I used to surf with a lady at Tracks in Nanakuli in the morning when she was on reserve. She kept her uniform in her car and had a waterproof pager(late 90's ), I thought it was the coolest thing ever to surf while on call. Do you have hot reserve on site( like only terminal 1?) or mostly 2 hr+? Can you sit reserve from OGG or KOA or do you just hang out at Pearlridge Mall all day. I would imagine feeding the koi at the airport cultural garden would get old over time.

Indoc is done here in HNL, the 717 is the shortest footprint, 7 weeks is average from day one Indoc to LOE. Some A330 last year were up to 4 months.
Yes there is airport reserve that you can bid for, In the pilot lounge or wonder around the airport.
Reserve callout inter-island is 2 hours, others 3. That is short call, no long call at this time here in HNL, the freighter has LCR.
Yes many of us surf with an apple watch. I do. No you cannot do reserve from other islands.

Mahalo for the response, I"ve got some ducks to get in a row but I'm definitely going to try to make the move. Hopefully I can make it there by winter (just in time for Kona storms).

Only the 717 has airport reserve and it goes senior. Still easy to surf pretty much anywhere on island with the 2 hour callout on the 717. If hired now, reserve time on any fleet is going to be 0-3 months. 717 you can be a junior Captain or fairly senior FO after 6 months.

If you upgraded as a 717 Captain, after 2 years there are some 320 seat you can go. You go to 320 as a captain or have to start from FO again? And I don’t really understand what does longevity mean, can someone kindly explain?

In all the airlines contracts nowadays longevity is just a measure on how long you've been employed at the airline. Each seat is bid for based on seniority so you can be a 12yr (longevity) 717 FO with a great schedule due to your relative seniority. That same 12yrs of longevity may get you a weekend only 330A schedule. When you bid a new position, you are paid based on your overall airline longevity so that is why most contracts have 1-12yrs longevity for every position.
