HAL Class date
Hello!
I am a new hire looking for an apartment/studio for rent in Waikiki area in case someone has one available.
Anyone here starting class on April 4th?
How feasible it is to take bus from Waikiki to training center?
Thank you!

It will take you about an hour to get to the training center from Waikiki by bus. You can check the times on google maps.

Does anyone has an idea about what the training schedule is like?
Is there any break between Indoc and Ground? Wondering if I will have time to rent an apartment.
I beleive renting a place in Waikiki requires a few days.
Thank you Gobows!

I think what you are describing is a right way to approach the move. Commute isn’t that bad there and you can study or unwind on the commute. There’s often time between parts of training. But why not come a week early and lock things in?

It’s different depending what fleet you get, and also seems to vary per class. Some of the 321 guys in our class had a month off between indoc and flight training, while the 330 guys flew to Miami and started FTD’s the next day, and the 717 guys finished IOE first.. if Hawaii is home, or going to be your new home, I’d recommend getting a place prior to groundschool. Save you a ton of money on hotels and also give you less stress of trying to find a place should you be a part of a fleet that doesn’t have a break between training and IOE. The other fleets I’ve heard are moving along quite quickly, the 330 has about a month backup between checkride to IOE. Again, this is always changing..

Yep. Not to mention this company is undertaking about seven ambitious projects, managing operational challenges and training bubbles, while trying to navigate the company back into the black. Getting too far ahead of the hiring curve will get as costly as falling behind it. Even places like Frontier have cut schedules (hiring slowed) due to engine delays. Our attrition problems are than less those of the ULCCs and SWA. Thank goodness.
