Default Hiring 2022

Anyone know of a good place to read about recent interview experience post Covid? I heard a lot has changed.

IMHO realistically. 2016 was the start of lots of hiring, 2017 had 100+ new hires and this will vastly slow down metrics. Only attractive quality I believe this place has over another major is getting hired directly into a widebody, which up until recently wasn’t likely elsewhere.
I’m an outsider looking in, but these numbers sound horrific for someone who wants to upgrade in a timely matter compared to the big 3, or even cargo. Perhaps the 787 coming to HAL would reduce these times, even by a little?

the last vacancy bid had the 717 upgrade at 2 years. I don’t know the seniority of the 321, 330 upgrades.

Latest vacancy shows A321 captain at 5 years and A330 captain at 8 years…

Not bad upgrade times right now. Let’s hope they keep the current fleets around in addition to the new 787s and open up some new markets/destinations which equates to growth.

Greater than 40% of the list (maybe 50) has been hired in the last 10 yrs. Hired now I’d plan on 15 yrs for a widebody, but that’s great since most new hires would be 40 at that point.

The company is planning on continued growth with what’s looking like a Southern California base and expansion into the mainland. As of now, all new aircraft will be growth…so anticipate upgrade times to stay the same if not go more junior for the foreseeable future…
Disclaimer: Nothing official yet on the new base.

What makes you think Socal base? I know they're opening up another MX facility , but they did the same with OAK and PDX.

I hope to see Hawaiian one day expand into the mainland and not just do Hawaii flights.

That came straight from upper management (someone directly involved in the process). Again, nothing is set in stone yet, but it’s a positive step in the right direction.
