That's super doable then. You probably won't be at home as much as you'd like, but the nice thing here is if you get reserve you can bid your entire time off as one solid block, makes commuting a lot easier if you get it awarded that way.

Greetings all! Part-time lurker, first time poster. Finally dropped an application to Hawaiian, interested if any new(er) hires out there can share their timeline?

Looking for how long from app submission, to interview, to CJO, then class date/training?

Thanks in advance, hopefully picking up!

A few months between applying and the interview.
I interviewed on a Thursday and had the CJO on Monday with a start date about 3 weeks later. I made sure to get the psych tests done as soon as they sent it out and told them I could start ASAP.

Thanks Marty. Did you have any internal reqs? I'm wondering if that helps speed anything along.

Solid. Thanks Marty! Did you have any internal recs? I wonder if that makes any difference to the timeline.

How much should a 1 year FO plan on making? How tough is it to make it with cost of living in Hawaii?

I did not, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt if you know anyone! Even as new hires, they told us to send our recommendations in. So definitely reach out to anyone, even if they haven’t been here long. It’s a great place to be!

I think 1st year pay is $81/hr. Plus the $10k signing bonus. It’s the same on all fleets so plan on 75 hrs per month. If you fly a line you can either go for the 75 hr minimum or up to 90 max (95 when flexed up. Which they can only do 6 months of the year). Hopefully some of this stuff gets changed in the next contract. Schedule flexibility is lacking in our current contract for sure.

cost of living very much depends on if you have a family or not and what you define as important to your lifestyle. There’s no McDs dollar menu. Rent isn’t cheap, check realtor.com app for ideas on rent cost for different areas.

Is there a cap on how much you can credit in a month? As a reserve or line holder? Picking up on days off and any premium trips for holidays or any other times? $81/hour is fine, but definitely plan on picking up on off days and going over the 75 hour credit
