They always say never say never. But doesn't look like they will have one anytime soon.

Agreed. If you are in your 20s-30s now and get hired, you MIGHT see a west coast base before you retire. That's if they raise the retirement age to 70. Apply knowing you will either move to Hawaii, or commute your entire career. This unless there is a significant change in the branding-business plan which would mean renaming the airline.

Not impossible, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I think it’s more probable thank this but I know what you mean.

I hope that you are right, but I've given up. I honestly thought we'd have had one within a year or two of closing SEA.

I only wonder because classes seem to be larger and larger now days in the low to mid 20s range per new hire class. You would imagine some form of growth is to come.

im not sure I’m following you on the rebranding and renaming the airline. Alaska Airlines doesn’t fly just to Alaska. They would have to get out of the mindset of “to-from and within the Hawaiian Islands” mindset and business plan. I don’t think a name change would be needed for that though. I think a west coast base is more likely every day considering the need for growth.

Don't count on a new base anytime soon.
Will be senior if and when it does happen.

Agreed. I should have also said "Short of a complete C-Level management re-do to include the holding company B.O.D.". We will NOT make any major changes with the current folks at the helm. Disclaimer: This in no way shape or form is a negative statement about the company or the holding company management. I'm just saying that the current powers that be base the business model on the universe revolving around a point in the ocean between Hawaii and Japan. It's worked for 90+ years. Steady as she goes... Full speed ahead.

In my very humble and personal opinion; If we get a new base, it will ALSO be in Hawaii, or even somewhere in Japan. NOT on the US Mainland.

<-- I really hope that I am wrong. I really do.

I agree, Maui 321 base seems most likely but I’m hopeful of an LAX (inc LGB) base within 5 years. Been plenty of talk about failing to attract applicants after the pay rise and bonus. I’ve even heard that there’s board level discussions on the future direction of the company (as there prob always is) due to the lack of attraction getting people to move to Hawaii. It’s not without substance; a family home is completely unaffordable here and attrition amongst the bottom 25% of the list will continue to strain our training department.
