Back in the hiring boom of 2009-2014, it wasn't uncommon to hear of non "native" and/or non internal rec people waiting two to three YEARS for the FIRST call. Hang in there. As others have said, if you meet the competitive requirements you should get the call. Eventually.

2-3 years these days means captain at UAL, DAL, AA, FedEx… Why anyone would wait for ANY airline is beyond me.

Any thoughts on picking an aircraft?
I’ve heard the 321 trips are really easy - 5 hour flight, 10-12 in a hotel, and 5 hours back and that’s it but the early AM wakeups on the mainland can be brutal.
How long to hold a line on the 330 vs 321?
330 best for trying to get LAS overnights?
One more commutable than the other?
Thanks all.

It will be quicker to hold a line on 321, as they are short staffed on pilots. 330 side could be a year or so is my guess. 330 will be the easiest for LAS overnights as that's the most junior trips.
Depends where you are commuting from.

Been there got the T-shirt. Exhausting.

5 years in and currently can’t hold a line on 330. COVID
carryover that’s dragging on and on (and on).

You betcha. LAS sees a couple red eyes so even on reserve
you’ll prob end up there often.
One more commutable than the other?
For now the 330 has day trips which complicates reserve bidding. 321
is pretty efficient and not hard to get 16 days off in a row. Plus could
commute in and out of Maui.
Thanks all.

The 717 trips now are more work than ANY of the regional flying that I ever did. I wouldn't be surprised if 717 CA goes to less than a year upgrade at some point.
The 330 is a wild card. It's OK now... If the Asia-Pac part of the world ever starts taking it's sanity pills and opens up again, the wide body will be the place to be. Hands down, no comparison. Awesome flying.
