You don’t create a big overlap and then pursue a merger. That’s a slam dunk case AGAINST any merger because you’re removing competition and in doing so harming the consumer. Not to mention that in your wishful thinking, Southwest would literally purchase a monopoly market (interisland). And that’s not even going into fleet makeup, product alignment, etc. etc.
But hey, you do you.
An airline with virtually no overlap? Allegiant. But there you have a different fleet again, and we aren’t exactly capable of collecting Canadian dollars or schedule red eyes, so what makes you think we could absorb an airline flying something other than 737?
