The 30 new hires per month, 5-787 crews on next vacancy and the SoCal base was directly from a conversation with upper management. This wasn’t a formal announcement… To be honest, it seems a little aggressive to me (with the current back log in training) but time will tell.
On the rumors front I’ve heard everything flying around from mergers, to flying wide bodies for Amazon. I put little merit on any of these unless I hear it from a valid source.

Just got an email from the company
Howdy - I recently applied and got an email from the company asking about Covid vax status. Assuming that’s a precursor to an interview? I’m really hoping there will be a west coast base in the near future, so will definitely stay tuned for any insight. If that were a “thing” would it be all A321 or a mix?
As for merger rumors, all my Alaska buddies are convinced the company’s current hostile attitude is due to their internal moves toward a merger. AS has enough cash to buy AA but they are likely too conservative for such a bold move. Buying HA fits their mold nicely though it might put a damper on the SoCal base for a few years.
Thanks for keeping me up to date on the latest!

If a west coast base did happen, the 321 would make the most sense. I've been hearing about Amazon flying rumors as well, so could be 330 too. My opinion, a bay area 321 base would make the most sense since Hawaiian has so many neo flights out of the area.
The rumor of a merger has been around for years, and I don't see any benefit for any airline to buy Hawaiian. Every airline can do what Hawaiian does and most importantly, Hawaiian does not own any gates. The State of Hawaii will go to the moon to help any airline in Hawaii, except Hawaiian. Look at the old SW gates. The State went ahead over heals for Southwest and built them the new gate area with ramps. Next thing we see is Southwest abandoning the area and going to another part of the terminal with jetbridges. The taxpayer flipped the bill for that wasted project. I digress, but main thing is Hawaiian is a brand, and the brand doesn't survive if another airline takes over.
