The full consequences of the Governors way too long lockdown haven't been realized yet.. I have friends of friends that lost 2 store fronts. Their only source of income.. They currently live in a gated million dollar home community.. The evictions and home losses will be staggering.. And many of the locals don't have enough foresight to realize it.. (then again most are maids or Walmart workers so wouldn't expect them to have any Economic intellect)

I assume the Governor has advisers that clue him in? Maybe not? The media posts like this is some kind of shock...

Hell I even have man bun bartender friends that think this is great and had no idea there was a quarantine.. They have been collecting way more than usual on UI +600 Stimulus... The sh!t is about to smack them hard in about 2 months

The crazy governor and his 14 day quarantine extension has forced me to move our July trip to Maui to St John.

Our family of 6 usualy spends something around 5-7k for a week on vacation with food, hotel, and activities. Figure 20-30% of that could have gone to hawaii tourist taxes and the rest of it would be revenue as we usually eat local and try to support the smaller businesses.

I live in Vegas and we are open and its not like a light switch turns on and magically the occupancy is at 95% like normal. Its a process, but its slowly getting better. Next big group of reports open their doors July 1. Unemployment is still estimated 25-35%. Massive evictions and foreclosures predicted as soon as moratorium is lifted. Its going to be a fight to get any job as soon as the extra $600 a week runs out. Seems like congress has bigger problems to worry about right now rather than pass another stimulus bill.

As a low time guy my flying career change is on hold and my current career is secure even though I am taking a 30% hit in my annual income with overtime eliminated. I will be sitting watching anxiously to see what happens to Hawaii and HAL. Good luck to all of you.

It usually takes 3-4 days to get the results back of a COVID test. How will that even work??

I guess they are thinking people who are coming here on vacation will plan ahead.

Otherwise it's a 14 day stay in your condo.

What I’m asking is how could you even make this work? Say you get tested on Aug 1, you get your results 3-4 days later (Aug 4-5) that show you are negative. You go to take your flight ASAP after getting your results but it’s already outside 3 days. Hence you’ll never be able to make this work unless you get your test results immediately.

You take the test right before you leave, then quarantine in your hotel when you get here until the test results come back (usually no more than 72 hours). That's what I've heard anyway...
