When Hawaii refused to open for tourists my family canceled Maui and went to St John in USVI for a week. We would have gone to Mexico if my son's passport processing was faster. We spent about 5k. I had almost 9k budgeted for Maui. Now I probably will not go back to Hawaii for at least 5 years out of spite. Too many other places to go

While everyone certainly has the right to choose where they spend their leisure travel dollars, I really don't see why it ****es everyone outside of Hawaii so much. The residents of Hawaii and HAL employees are pretty ****ed off, but why the indignation from everyone else? It's not like anyone here voted to institute the 14-day quarantine.
Hopefully, all of this madness will be over soon, and I hope everyone remembers(and votes out) who did this to them. The Governor doesn't care, and will probably never run for public office ever again. I think a lot of the blame is on the Lt Gov's shoulders. If you ask me, working as an ER Doc is a conflict of interest. He is only focused on the effects on the medical community, not the economic well being of the rest of the state.

How you guys over there are just accepting this and not chasing the politicians out of town covered in tar and feathers is beyond me. This would have ended by now if the citizens actually took back their freedom. Oh well, maybe next year.

Some ‘locals’ loved it. No tourists, competition for surfing breaks and able to collect near a grand per week unemployment. Now they’ve decided to cover peoples’ rent up to 2k per month. I doubt people will be motivated to go back to work.

The entire world is mishandling with very few exceptions. Hawaii was in over its head no matter what figure head was in office. The incompetence/unqualified/corrupt/whateverwhatever runs deep in every aspect of organized governance in the state. Blame culture or the political party if you want to, but the current state of affairs was inevitable. Even SWA is crying about lack of demand.
