Default Baggage handler locked in hold on Mesa flight

BREAKING A baggage handler was locked in the cargo hold during flight #UA6060 from Charlotte to Washington Dulles | AIRLIVE.net

This article is being plastered all over my facebook feed at the moment. I am hoping that it's not true. Any Mesa pilot care to comment?

1.) Why would he just be in there?

2.) Why wouldn't his coworkers have noticed?

3.) There's no way the flight crew could have had any idea.

I can see it now from the NTSB...mandatory roll call before any flight departs a gate.

This happened to my dad's coworker on Delta in the 80's who fell asleep in the bin on a rainy day. Woke up over St Louis banging on the floor panel, so they opened it up and let him sit in the cabin for the duration of the flight.

Don't know the 175s. But on the 145 he would at least be mostly comfortable.

I bet it scared the crap out of him. If he was sleeping he won't be doing it again.
