That's why it might not be a bad idea to install a BRS as a last resort.

I have built a Flightstar 2 - still flying
rebuilt a Quicksilver - sold to a guy in Germany on Ebay
Building a pietenpol aircamper - being built with local EAA chapter help
Building a Pelican PL by Ultravia from Canada
Would love to build a Lancair next, someday someday!

You wouldn't go wrong with a Lancair. Are you familiar with the Super Stallion? http://www.aircraftdesigns.com/ Now this is a pretty impressive airplane. I think the builder had a hand in designing Lancairs as well.

One day I hope to own a plane, and the experimental route seems to be very cost effective, but I will only fly something I built, or something a pro built. Too many unknowns out there

It can be fairly cost effective (and that's a relative term in aviation) these days with the new sleek designs that offer light weight and min drag. Aircraft diesels are poised to make a big scene in the GA arena with gas prices where they are. It's very possible to get 150-275mph cruising speeds for under 12gal/hr (with full glass IFR glass cockpits). Run some numbers on that if you travel X/C alot and see how it compares to the cost and frustration of an Airline. It's exciting to think about the possibilities out there. Can't wait to build my own someday as well.

Anybody familiar with this experimental? Pretty impressive performance and supposedly easy and quick to build.
