Default Retired Marine trying to help Afghan translat

Retired Marine trying to help Afghan translator immigrate to U.S.

The retired marine in the article is a good friend of mine and Sami played a major role in keeping him and his unit alive and now they are trying to repay the favour to get him and his family to safety while the European refugee crisis goes on and the Taliban has a price on his head. Have a read of the article ya'll.

"It's a disgrace that the country that he put himself and his family in danger for is leaving him hanging out to dry," Aaron says.

I'm not an attorney and advise you get an immigration attorney on board ASAP. His case might be time sensitive.

Here's a possible avenue for Sami and his family;

Sami has to get a Petition filed for himself, his spouse and his child ASAP for an SQ Visa or other visa program, (resettlement, refugee etc).

In 2009 they passed the Afghan Allies Protection Act of 2009. There are other avenues so again, he needs to retain an immigration attorney ASAP.

There might me some immigration attorneys or resettlement groups that are taking pro bono cases. Try here; AILA - American Immigration Lawyers Association

Here's a synopsis of the pre-qualifications of what is required with the submission of the SQ visa petition, (but remember, Sami might qualify under another program);

e Following Documents in your Application Package:
1.
Verification of Employment (including dates worked and location) from your Human Resources (HR) office.
2.
At least one (1) Letter of Recommendation from your direct U.S.Citizen supervisor. If your supervisor is aware of your threat, s/he should include it in his/her letter.

3.
A Combined Biographic Statement and Threat Statement
4.
Evidence of Afghan Nationality (Tazkera or Passport)
5.
DS-157 Application Form
6.
Copy of Employment Badge(if available)

Good luck
