Actually, the rules re: Hedge Funds have been relaxed a great deal, and said funds can now pool investor capital. Think of it much like an ETF.

This is actually not true at all. Unlike equity funds, which are required to hold a certain percentage of all funds invested in the market at any given time (typically 80% of all assets), a Hedge Fund can be managed with FAR greater flexibility. For example, a HF can go "delta neutral" (ie. essentially be "flat" the market...read: neither loses nor gains $$ regardless of stock price movement), or it can go entirely short the market, or long the market. It can also "hedge" it's long and/or short positions in the market with options. In fact, historically Hedge Funds are superior to stock funds precisely because of this flexibility.

Actually, no it isn't. In fact, for the very successful Hedge Funds out there (most of which you've never heard of) it is industry avg. and in some cases lower than what is charged.

Actually, what is more accurate is that most people don't even know what they speak of when it comes to this topic, as my post here readily demonstrates.

To the OP....why a pilot specific fund? I fail to see how, in an investment scenario, pilots have unique investor characteristics that make us a special class of investor.

SayAlt, thanks for explaining some of this stuff to others... I was trying to get a feel of what Airline Pilots think of such a fund but apparently Pilots don't have much knowledge in this arena....I was being humble when I said I'd try to get returns of 10-20% per year...Ofcourse there are NO guarantees in the investment world but I can do much much better than what I suggested...I really don't NEED to open such a fund as I can just happily invest my own money and make decent returns for myself but I thought hey, I have a skill in which I can make others a ton of money and become rich myself so why not....Anyhow, it seems to me that most pilots would not be interested so I guess it's a pointless discussion....If anyone is interested in doing something like this then feel free to pm me...Also, I am an honest guy and don't need to rob anyone...This is NOT a ponzi scheme for those that are skeptical...I am gifted in investing and wanted to share that gift with fellow pilots since most of us do not have a real pension plan...

330, wrong forum with the wrong kind of people. As you can see, any talent you may have in the fine art of trading securities are wasted on 99% of the people here. They don't even know enough to ask you the right kind of questions, even if they were interested in what you are proposing. These are pack mules, not thoroughbreds. I've tried to throw 'em a bone and it was wasted effort. See the last 2 posts here...
