Returning to the USA atp question
Hey,
I am new on this forum. Been flying up north for awhile and I am thinking of returning to the USA where I haven't lived for a long time. I have a Canadian ATPL but with the new rules about this $5000 course to get my CAA ATPL converted to the FAA ATP I am a little lost on how this conversion is supposed to be done.
Do some airlines have training that meets this standard so you wouldn't have to pay for it? Maybe I should just convert my license to a CPL and then upgrade the FAA CPL to an ATP?
Anyone out there recently convert their license that can give me some guidance?

There are three regional airlines that have approved CTP programs. I think a couple more will cover the cost of the course if they hire you. The FAA guidance for converting TC licenses doesn't mention converting a TC ATP to a FAA Commercial with an airplane rating. (There is something about converting a Helo ATP to a FAA Commercial with an instrument rating. And it really won't do you much good. You would need to complete an ATP CTP to upgrade your FAA Commercial to an ATP and you'll need an ATP to work for a 121 airline.
