Default Flying Fortress captured

One of the main and most important Allied bombers, the B-17 was sparked interest and greed target of Germans and Japanese during WW2. Inevitably some planes were captured and tested by the enemy. I share with you the link below that has some photos of these planes, some rare, with German and Japanese markings. To see the photos, visit the link below:

That's pretty interesting. We've all seen allied powers flying captured axis planes, but I've never seen the reverse. I wonder how the Japanese got these planes? Captured from Wake Island or forced down over the pacific? I'm guessing the Germans either rebuilt crash landed ones, or maybe got them from Spain or Portugal when flight crews diverted there. The Japanese built DC-3s under licence and the Pratt&Whitney's that powered the DC-3 eventually were copied and put in the Zero!

I recall hearing about the Germans using them as passenger aircraft in Scandinavia, but never looked too far into it, wouldn't have surprised me if they did though.

Default Tu-4 (Bull) bomber

The Soviets nabbed some B-29s which made emergency landings there after raids on Japan. Tupolev was ordered to make exact copies, and so they did, right down to the name "Boeing" on the rudder pedals. With Stalin, one did not take any chances.

and the patch covering a flack hole. Also, converting everything to metric was a pain: 30 gauge = .012" = .305mm.
