Las Vegas living w/kids
I've heard Las Vegas has some great areas to raise a family. What are they? Public schools?
If I move there should I stop contributing to my daughter's 529 plan and get her a pole to dance on? (Joke, sort of..?)

Henderson is good place to live and easy to drive to KLAS, living in Vegas is not about the wild life, most folks that live there and work there do not or rarely spend their free time at casinos, clubs and wild parties. So yes Vegas is a place you can rise your family without worrying about them ending up on a pole!!!

My wife works in the school system. To say it sucks would be overrating it. My advice...Summerlin, Centennial Hills, Lone Mountain or anywhere in the far NW corner. Henderson would be second choice, the only advantage being its close to the airport, but the beltway negates that advantage.
Private schools are the way to go in LAS. Public schools are overcrowded. After the real estate bubble burst in '11-'12 people bailed out. However, it appears they're coming back now. Lots of construction and the home prices are moving upward. Mine has increased $50K (conservatively) to $85K in less than two years.

Agreed. Its like living in Orange County. The only reason you go to Disneyland is when someone from out of town visits and wants to go. Same with the Strip. Locals don't go to Paradise (the strip isn't in Las Vegas!) unless its with visitors.

So all of the public schools in the Las Vegas Metro are bad? Even the ones in nice neighborhoods?
