Default Custody battles in GA

Always dreaded the thought that I would find myself in this mess one day. Looking to see if any pilots here have had any experience in the GA family courts as far as custody battles.

I'm not married with my 3yr olds mother she's been living in my house since January this year. Obviously after irreconcilable differences she's telling me she's hopping the state to AL to start over and taking my son with her without my approval. If she wasn't threatening me with her leaving the state if she moved out close I wouldn't care, but hopping the state lines well that's another story. I don't have any formal joint custody it's just been 50/50 or mostly me for the most part on his expenses.

Just wondering how experiences have varied in this horrible situations as being pilot fathers we seem to just be thrown to the curb in the legal system. I'd like to put an injunction to stop her and I know I'm going to have to lawyer up for it.

Hopefully someone in the ATL metro area has had a good positive experience with some attorney that you could refer me to. Live in Newnan so I guess anyone in the coweta fayette county areas would be nice.

Can't help with GA but odds are if the kid and both parents are established in GA she can't just move away unless you agree to it. Be thankful you're not on the marriage hook as well. Best of luck.

Not specific to GA and no info about moving out of state, but two words of advice from someone who has been down this road.

1) Never, ever, ever lose sight of the fact that it is about the child, not the adults.

2) You need a lawyer.
