I (tentative I pass training) am going to be a CRJ driver now. I currently have the Bose A20, and just have gotten tired of them. They feel heavy and I get a headache if I fly with them for more than 4 or 5 hours in a day. Yeah they were nice when I was flying in a Cessna 172, but I have heard that CRJ's are pretty quiet.

I am in between two headsets right now and wanted some input. First is the Telex Airman 850. They are super lightweight and still ANR. Second is buying the Bose QC15 with the UFlyMike attachment (saw they don't have an attachment for the new QC25 headset yet). They are 5oz lighter than the Bose A20, cheaper, and I can take off the microphone and use it to listen to music outside the airplane.

Anyone have any pros/cons on either.
Here's some advice, suck it the hell up and save your money. "I've gotten tired of my bose A-20"? You are about to be crj driver on first year pay and you want to spend 40% of one months pay on a new headset because your "tired" of a Bose A-20? Get a friggen clue

Except I am selling them to a coworker for nearly the same price I bought them for. So going out and buying a cheaper headset, in theory, would mean I am saving money.

I appreciate the advise though. Cheers!

I dunno, we were doing .83 in a -700 a couple weeks ago. That thing is LOUD at that speed. Glad I had my Bose X's. If I were you I'd keep the A20...

Default 121 CRJ Headset (yet again)

I'm on the 73 and just got the David Clark pro's they are much more comfy and quiet than the Sennheiser HMEC-46 I have been using, and bluetooth works great. The only thing better about the Sennheisers is the flip away function (so I can hear certain mumbling FO's), but you can just wear the DC's a little side saddle also, for the same effect.

Is it not common to take your headset off above FL180 and just use the speaker and the hand mike?

In my view, very loud compared to a comfortable ANR.

Protect your hearing, especially since it's the high freqs that are first to go.
