You could also get the "speed mods" on older models. Our 66 'E' had the 201 windscreen, cowl and belly pan. Fright planned at 150kts. Loved the Johnson bar manual gear!
At typical cruise in the 8K range, the 201's would always give me 160 Kts TAS from the factory; good luck ever actually seeing 201 (MPH) though! Nevertheless, nice little airplanes.
My dad had a M20C and I've got a lot of time in it, but it was several years ago. 145Kts @ 6-8Kft @ 7.5-8gph. Great XC machine - tough to beat for its class.
