New FLiCA App for Android
Hey everybody!
It's been several years since I posted here under ksuav8r, but I no longer have access to that account (forgot the password), nor the email associated with it. I didn't look at my previous acct's history to see what I had posted before, but I worked at Skyway for about a year until it shut down in 2008 and have been at Republic ever since
Anyway, I just made the switch from iPhone to Android and I love it! However, I was appalled that there is no flica app that downloads my schedule. So, over the last month or so, I've been working on an android app that works similar to Flica's iPhone app (one-touch refresh and hotel calling, etc). I've had 40 or so pilots from Republic and 1 from Compass testing it for the last two weeks, and I've worked out most of the bugs, and made it available to the public under a free trial.
It has hit the ground running with over 200 downloads in the first 12 hours just through word of mouth, and I have received nothing but great feedback.
I was just curious if anybody from other airlines that use Flica would like to give it a try and shoot me an email at the address listed in the play store (not sure if I'm allowed to list it here, but it's my screen name at yahoo), and let me know if it works for you guys, too, or if there is any tweaking that needs to be done.
Thanks in advance and enjoy!

PS - Eventually, this will be around $5 or $6 per year and will include more bells and whistles, such as alerts at a custom time before each trip, a widget that will display the current day's schedule, and possibly layover info submitted by crews, like van info, good restaurants, tips to getting downtown, running trails, things to do, etc. If I decide to implement the layover info, the price may jump up to closer to $10/yr, as that will take up a considerable amount of my time and resources.

New FLiCA App for Android
Just downloaded the trial app on my wife's android...looks great! But will this app also be available for iPhone? If you implement the other features, it may end up being better than Flica, and I wouldn't mind having it for my iPhone.

With the additional stuff that I'm considering doing, an iPhone app is certainly a possibility. It will most likely be several months down the road, though, and only IF I do the layover info part of it. I don't want to reinvent the wheel of I don't have anything significant to add to Flica's iPhone app.

Hi Bob,
Excellent app, indeed!
Definitely a commendable job given that it's just the first version. I am sure you would go strong in subsequent versions as well.
I am sure it would be like a dream run for an app developer given the rapid pace of installs that you experienced.
All the best!

FC View 1.0.98
Hey guys!
The latest update, 1.0.98, is available and it fixes the errors associated with having next month (May) now available to view. I've also spent the last couple of days completely reworking the way that information is processed by the app in order to accommodate something called viewPager. It was a bit of a pain to implement (which is why I've held off), but it's finally done and it makes swiping between months and legs much more intuitive and user friendly.
Also, the trial period has been extended by one month, so it will continue to work through the month of May!
I hope you guys are liking it! It has been a boatload of work, especially since releasing it to the public. I've also got Compass, GoJet, and Spirit pilots (that I know of) giving it a try, and it appears to be working for everybody, so if you're happy with it and you've got friends at other airlines that use Flica (or have your own internal message boards), I'd certainly appreciate a plug, and maybe they will, too.
As always, if you have any issues or any ideas as to how to make this thing better, let me know!

Just a quick update...
Thanks to all of your support and feedback, I've been able to get rid of most of the errant bugs and have begun to start work on extras within the app. So far, I've added one-touch access to individual flight statuses as well as general airport delays for each city pair.
There is still more to come, but so far, the feedback has been phenomenal!
Also, as far as I can tell, Pilots and FAs at the following airlines are using it:
AirTran Airways
Chautauqua Airlines
Compass Airlines
Hawaiian Airlines
GoJet Airlines
JetBlue
Mesa Airlines
Republic Airlines
Shuttle America Airlines
Spirit Airlines
Virgin America
If your airline uses Flica and isn't on this list, feel free to download the app, give it a try, and let me know how it works:
