Default Autogyros

I'm going to be in a town that has a fairly well known Gyro training facility next week.

Thinking of seeing if I can get a lesson or two while I sit on standby (non flying standby, oil company be here in 10 hours standby) if the weather, aircraft and instructors align.

Anyone on here ever fly a Gyro? I've got a butt-ton of time in Helos, so things without wings don't really scare me.

Performs more like a SuperCub with a STOL kit than a helicopter. Go fly one, they're fun.

Default Check the safety record of autogyros

Some stats from the UK several years ago-

1 fatal accident per 90,000+ hours for FW

1 fatal accident per 50,000 hours for helicopter

1 fatal accident per 7,000 hours for autogyros.
(with a cheap aircraft one can afford an expensive coffin)

I think a lot of the problem, from talking to a Gyro CFI, is a lot of guys get Dual to the point where they can solo.. And never get training beyond that.
