Bad idead. 6 to 8 weeks training then say 3 to 4 day trips. You will not be around for Pochie and/or extra burden for your roommates/crash pad mates.

Buy one of those plush ultra soft stuffed animal puppies. I saw one the other day at the store and after feeling how soft and cuddly they were I bought one. I see four advantages: 1. Will cuddle when wife/girlfriend won't 2. No food 3. No clean-up and 4. You can throw it in your flight bag when you leave for a trip and no one will ever know, unless TSA opens it for inspection.

11 years in the airlines and still no pets for me. I have a wife and two kids too. You can't go anywhere as a family with a pet at home. No pets, no puddles, no crap to clean up- free to travel. Saves money too.

Default Pets

If you have a strong need for a pet then give up this aviation foolishness and get a 9 to 5 job. There is no place in a pilots life for a pet. Even children and wives are borderline.

ROAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, what about fish? They can go without food for a week if need be and they don't require walking.

You just need one that's trained well. Or let the neighbors take care of him ect. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, loves my boy. He's family. Been the best dog ever. His name is Ruger. Quite the ladies man if you can't tell. I don't see how I could have ever gone without the guy. I wish he was here in Del Rio with me but my parents grew a little attached and won't let me have him eventhough he's mine. I make trips home to see him though every few weeks.
