Question Anybody nonrev on Delta and check a firearm?

I am going to a shooting event in Texas in March. I need to check my firearm and ammo. Has anybody ever non reved on Delta and checked a firearm? I trying to decide if I need to shell out a bunch of money for a ticket.

OR...maybe you could ship your firearm and amo on FedEx/UPS and insure it?

It's not a problem at all as a non-rev. You follow the same guidelines as you would on a full fare ticket. I've done it to attend USPSA competitions and training schools. You can also check your firearm and ammo at the ticket counter when riding the jumpseat. Same procedures apply at the ticket counter. If your event requires much ammo, you might need to ship it or purchase at your destination since the total quantity allowed is fairly limited compared to amounts needed for a competition or a training school. For a hunting trip, the ammo limitation is typically not an issue. Make sure you know the firearm transport laws where you are going.

That's correct. Works out to about 4 boxes of 50 rounds for handgun ammunition.

Thanks for the info everybody. Maybe I will leave the .45 at home and bring the 9 so I can bring more ammo.
