Hhaha, no kidding. If I could find a T-Hangar for $200/month I would be ecstatic, lol. I love this state (NJ) but cant stand the cost of living. I think part of my problem is I havent done much of the grunt work other than searching online. I need to do a but more in person searching, hopefully more will show up

I know you're south of me but I pay $290/mo for a closed T hangar on a grass strip.

There is a grass strip near New Hope PA. Vansant. I spelled that wrong. Its probably a 2 hr drive from AC. And about 15 min from Trenton Mercer.

Depending on where in Jersey you are, you may have some luck looking in Pennsylvania. If you're in South Jersey, there is a nice airport just north of Philly, I think it is in Blue Bell (??) which likely wouldn't cost nearly $400. There's also plenty of grass strips in the Lehigh Valley. Or you could just go to Wilmington... They seem pretty desperate

Hangar it, heated or not. You might have to go out and drive around to find some mom n pop place that has room.

Joey... Ya gonna make it an amphib or leave it on wheels?

Got my SES rating in a J-3 at Brown's with my old man. Great bird!

Thank ya.
I grew up in the 1960's on a small grass strip in New Hampshire where most of the planes (J-3's and Champs) were outside all year. In addition to UV rays, you need to think about the weight of a heavy/wet snow on your airplane's wings/tail surfaces.

If you get a deep snow and then it turns to rain, that can be a whole lot of weight on the top of the wings + elevator. The fabric on the planes I knew up in NH back then held up for many years, UV wasn't too bad, as long as your paint is good, and you can buy the covers as you said, but you'll want to get out and clean the snow off the top of the wings/elevator before it gets too heavy or melts, then freezes again.

Any covered parking spot, even just a roof with an open front area, would be much better to keep snow/rain off it while you are on the road and can't get to it to clean it off.

Here's what they get for a T hanger up there now that they've built a bunch of them:

Take the prop off and stand it on its nose in the back of a batch hangar. That's the way it was commonly done back in the day.
