IAH employee lot location, and neighborhoods?
Hi guys,
wondering if any XJT or CAL guys might share with me exactly where the IAH employee lot is located and how much time you allot for the bus ride and travel to the gate?
I'm about 90% sure I will be based there in the near future, and I have a short opportunity to pop into the area and check it out.
Trying to get an idea of where we might want to live, and how long it will take to get to work.
Also, any suggestions as to good communities to live in? We kind of want something on the outskirts with a suburban country feel, and good schools - within about 30 minutes to parking lot.
It seems like in and around the Woodlands is nice.

sulkair - I was based at IAH for about three years. Can't speak as to the employee lot because my company contracted with an outside vendor and we parked at the Parking Spot 2. As for living - I always preferred the Kingwood/Porter area. Its about 15-20 minutes to the airport and you won't deal with same traffic that The Woodlands has. Personally, I always felt that area was over priced, but I did leave there about one year ago. I know that's not very helpful but good luck!!

I always thought IAH was a great base - heat never bothered me and despite what some say, it is a halfway decent city, you just have to take the time to learn the area. The airport itself is easy to get in and out of, especially with the revamp of terminal B, it is much better than a lot of airports out there. When I was there, the food selection wasn't the greatest but again, I heard some new places were going into B. My only real issue with it was it was/is a senior base for mainline so when I got stuck commuting to EWR and CLE, it was sometimes a pain because of how far down the list I would be.

It's been a while but I'm pretty sure it's on Green between JFK and international (just southeast of the threshold of 33R). I'd send a link but I'm on my iPad and I can't figure out how to link a place on Google maps.

Perfect, exactly what I was looking for, thank you! Also, Prefrock, I appreciate it, that helps.
